Plaza Appliance Service Co has handled appliance repair across Charlotte since 1952, and many of the homeowners who call us today have called us before, sometimes about a second or third appliance. If this is your first call, welcome. We serve 22 Charlotte ZIP codes, every one of them listed below, and one family business looks after all of them.
Our Charlotte appliance repair homepage walks through every appliance we fix. Here you will find your part of the city, how a visit runs, and what a long relationship with a repair company looks like from your side of the counter.

Trusted in Charlotte since 1952
Charlotte families have been calling us since Owen Johnson founded us in 1952. Owen mentored Chris Raeker, Chris took the reins from him, and today Chris and his brother Steve run our family business, still working by the motto Owen started with: "Fair prices. Quality work. Every time." We are a small family operation, and every repair carries our name.
Repeat customers are the heart of our work. When a family that trusted us with one appliance calls back about another, we take it as a sign the first repair was done right, and we work to earn that trust again. We are also a multi-year Angie's Super Service Award recipient.
What calling us back gets you
- Nothing to relearn. We schedule, price, and stand behind a repair the same way every time, so a second call is as simple as the first.
- Owners close to the work. We are small and family-run, so there are few handoffs between your phone call and your repair, and the owners know the trade firsthand.
- A straight answer on repair or replace. When an appliance is near the end of its useful life, you hear that, with the real repair price beside it, and the decision stays yours.
- One number for every appliance. Refrigerator this year, dryer the next: the same number reaches us for the kitchen and the laundry room.
What we repair in Charlotte homes
The major kitchen and laundry appliances, residential only:
- Refrigerators: Standard and counter-depth models that run warm, frost over, leak onto the floor, or never seem to stop running. See refrigerator repair.
- Freezers and ice makers: Upright freezers that are thawing or over-frosting, and the ice maker in your refrigerator when it has slowed, stopped, or will not release the ice. See freezer and ice maker repair.
- Dishwashers: Cycles that stop early, water left in the tub, dishes that come out gritty or cloudy, plus dishwasher cleaning and filter service.
- Ovens, ranges, stoves, cooktops, and wall ovens: Uneven baking, burners that will not heat or light, and controls that ignore you. See oven, range, and cooktop repair.
- Microwaves: Over-the-range, built-in, and microwave hood combos that run but do not heat, spark, or will not start.
- Washers and dryers: Washers that stall full of water or skip the spin, and dryers that tumble cold or need two cycles. See washer and dryer repair.
- Garbage disposals: Humming, jammed, leaking, or silent.
- Maintenance and inspections: Refrigerator coil cleaning, lint cleaning inside the dryer cabinet, dishwasher cleaning, safety checks, and performance inspections. See preventive maintenance and appliance inspection.
How an appliance repair visit in Charlotte works
Call 704-366-2126 with the brand, the model number if you can read it, and what the appliance is doing. We will give you a two-hour appointment window to plan around, and same-day service is available when the schedule allows.
Your technician finds the cause and tells you the repair and its total price before any part is replaced, and whether to go ahead is up to you. Parts and labor on every repair we do are under warranty for 90 days.
We work Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and Saturday, 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, and we are closed on Sunday.
When it is time to call us again
Some problems announce themselves: a puddle, a burning smell, a dryer that is stone cold. Others creep up on you. Call when:
- An appliance we repaired starts acting up again. Within 90 days, the warranty covers the parts and labor on that repair; after that, tell us what we fixed last time and we will start from there.
- An older appliance you have been nursing along is getting louder, slower, or less dependable than it was.
- A refrigerator or freezer cannot hold its temperature even with the door kept shut, or frost is building where it never did before.
- A washer, dryer, or dishwasher needs a second cycle to finish the job, or leaves water behind.
- An oven takes far longer to preheat than it used to, bakes unevenly, or shows an error code.
- Any appliance trips the breaker more than once.
Before you call, make sure the appliance has power (plugged in, breaker on) and that a child lock or a bumped setting is not the culprit. Sparks, a burning smell, or water near wiring mean one thing: stop using the appliance, unplug it if you can do that safely, and call. If you smell gas, leave the appliance alone, step outside, and call your gas company first.
Write down any error code exactly as it appears, and if you have called us before, say so; we like hearing it.
